Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with BadgerLink Resources

National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 to October 15 every year in the United States. This month honors the achievements of Hispanic people, and coincides with the celebrations of Independence Day in many Latin American countries.*

To celebrate this important month, here is a listing of BadgerLink resources that highlight contributions by Hispanic people, this month and throughout the year.

Also join the Britannica's Education Consultant team for its webinar Teach Latinx History through Media Literacy offered Thursday, September 15 at 3 PM CST or Wednesday, September 21 at 3 PM CST. Examine strategies to use with students to help promote media literacy while celebrating Hispanic Heritage month. Session outcomes include navigating Britannica's content and unpacking strategies on how to make your lessons more student-directed and engaging, while promoting literacy, self-expression and critical thinking.

English teachers using Literary Reference Center Plus can find biographies on a variety of Hispanic and Latinx authors as well as literary criticism about their works. Authors include Isabel Allende, Jorge Luis Borges, Sandra Cisneros, Juan Felipe Herrera and more. Meanwhile, Poetry and Short Story Reference Center contains Poetry Showcases from The Paris Review on Coral Bracho, Martín Espada and Luis Felipe Fabre.
